Moving Day

The first floor is almost completely empty!!! Today, we moved the last of the large pieces of furniture (chairs, sofas, tables) into storage. Movers came to transport the piano down to the basement. All that's left now on the first floor are some boxes and the Christmas tree. It's really empty and lonely down there, but soon enough there will be lots of activity going on! ;-)

Christmas is over, so get to work

After the new year, we're starting a major house remodel! The entire first floor will be completely demolished. In the end, we'll have a brand new kitchen, living room, family room and dining area. But between now and then, we're going to have to find some way to live without the entire first floor of our house.

Today, we took down all the C
hristmas decorations (sad!) and started boxing stuff up to go into storage. We rented a storage space nearby, and we've converted the guest bedroom on the second floor into a T.V. room/den. We moved the loveseat, the wing chair, computer, DVD player and TiVo (we have to have the TiVo!) up there, and everything else must go either in the basement or into storage. It's kind of cramped up in the new TV room, but very cozy. It's also verryyy stuffy.

Below, I took some pictures of the house as it looks today.

The new T.V. room:

The fireplace, which will be knocked down and GONE FOREVER!!:

Our kitchen, which is the main reason for the whole remodel, because it truly is the crappest, ugliest kitchen in American history:

Demolition begins after the new year!!
