The Floor is All In

Granite samples in the kitchen window sill. We are quite tired of looking at slabs of granite. Dave has the finest taste in these matters but his uncultured family is unable to appreciate this.

This is our half-mantle. It is leading-edge innovative design. Many people would go for the painfully conventional full-mantle but this is the future and we are trendsetters.

The floor is completely down now. Much better for Dave's allergies. Plus, the cats can no longer venture through the holes in the floor to explore the underworld. This saddens them but they aren't smart enough to figure out that it was just a filthy crawlspace down there and not the portal to Hell.

7 down, 7 to go!

OK, so I (allison) am back after like two months of not writing anything. I've been really busy, I have a life, and for some reason the teachers at school think it's 'cool' to hand out titanic amounts of homework. Does nothing ever change?

Well, we are now halfway through construction! Yippee! This week we've been putting in the hardwood floors. I think it's white oak or something. The floor looks good so far, but the guy who's putting it in looks even better! ;-) Floors should be done verrryyy soon, which is sweet. I don't know what they're doing after that.

Day 26: Drywall is up!

The drywall is ready for tape and mud. With the paper on the floor, you can almost imagine what the wood floor will look like. Well, maybe Allison will be ashamed enough now to resume blogging. Or, her father can take this over and make fun of her.

Gutted!

The insulation is in and the living room floor is filled in. Ready for inspection.

Long-awaited Update

Above is the interior during demolition. Looking better already.
